Transcription: The original speaker was the horn that sat on the top of the gramophone. There are many different types of speaker, although virtually the only one in use today is the coil-driven speaker, the design for which was patented in the 1870s. Manufacturers are now experimenting with shaping the speakers to improve sound quality and like many other areas of technology, small yet powerful speaker systems are now available.
